An incident of theft of jewelery worth over Rs 70 lakh, kept in the locker of a branch of Punjab National Bank located in Nehru Nagar, Ghaziabad, has come to light.As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and registered a case and started investigation. Police suspect that jewelery worth lakhs of rupees was stolen from the locker with the connivance of bank employees. Since this incident, there has been a stir among the bank employees. After the information of one account holder being stolen from the locker, other account holders have also reached the bank to see their lockers.'Bank does not know what the account holder keeps in the locker'Sandeep Kumar Srivastava, chief branch manager of PNB, says that information has been received in this regard. When the locker was not opened with the key of the locker holder, the locker was broken in the presence of the locker holder. At the same time, the account holders are claiming that the goods were stolen from the locker. The manager says what the account holders are keeping in the locker. The bank does not have any information in this regard.Victim said - ornaments were missing when the locker was brokenPriyanka Gupta, a resident of Ashok Nagar of Sihani Gate police station area, has an account in the branch of PNB located in Nehru Nagar for 20 years. Along with this, she is using the locker in the bank. Priyanka says that she went to check the locker for the last time in 2019. After this she could not go to the bank due to corona infection. On going to the bank in October 2021, the locker did not open with the key. He gave this information to the bank employees many times but the bank employees kept assuring them to solve it. In February, when the locker was broken in his presence, jewelery worth Rs 70 lakh was found missing from his locker. The victim has lodged a report against the bank employees in this regard. Sihani Gate CO Alok Dubey says that a report has been filed in the matter. The case is being investigated.
