Legislative Council Election: Elections are to be held today for 11 seats of Maharashtra Legislative Council. In the election, 12 candidates including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Pankaja Munde and Uddhav Thackeray's personal assistant Milind Narvekar are in the fray. After the nomination for the Legislative Council election, now a total of 12 candidates are in the fray for 11 seats. Five BJP candidates

The Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded five candidates for the Legislative Council election. Pankaja Munde, Amit Gorkhe, Sadabhau Khot and Yogesh Tilekar have been fielded, while the current member of the council Parinay Phuke has been given a ticket again. Apart from this, Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has fielded former MP Bhavana Gawli and Kripal Tumane. The Nationalist Congress Party led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has fielded Shivajirao Garje and Rajesh Vitekar.

Opposition exerts strength

On the other hand, talking about the opposition, Congress has again given ticket to the current Legislative Councilor Pradnya Satav. Jayant Patil of the Peasants and Workers Party is contesting again as a candidate of the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP). Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has fielded Milind Narvekar, a close aide of party chief Uddhav Thackeray.

Who has how much power in the Assembly

At present, BJP has 103 members, Shiv Sena 38, NCP 42, Congress 37, Shiv Sena (UBT) 15 and NCP (SP) 10 members. Prahar Janshakti Party, BVA, Samajwadi Party and AIMIM have two MLAs each, while Jansurajya, RSP, PWP, MNS, CPM, Swabhimani Paksha, Krantikari Kshetra Party have one MLA each.
