Major road accident in Manipur, 7 students killed, 40 injured as school bus overturned

Manipur Road Accident: A major road accident took place in Manipur on Wednesday. A school bus carrying students on a tour overturned. In this accident, 7 school children died, while 40 others are said to be injured. This incident took place in Noney district of Manipur. All these children had gone out for a study tour. According to reports, the driver suddenly lost control, after which the accident took place.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh tweeted and shared a video of the crashed bus, writing, "Deeply saddened to hear about the accident of a bus carrying school children on Old Cachar Road today. State to coordinate rescue operation." Disaster Response Force (SDRF), medical team and local MLA have reached the spot. Praying for the safety of everyone in the bus."

5-5 lakh from Chief Minister's Relief Fund

In another tweet, the Chief Minister wrote, "Know the condition of the students who were injured in the accident that took place on Old Cachar Road today." All possible help and assistance will be provided. I further pray for his speedy recovery. CM N Biren Singh announced that the families of the deceased students would be given Rs 5 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

The bus overturned after the driver lost control

According to the police, the accident took place on Old Cachar Road near Longsai area of the hill district, about 55 km from Imphal, the capital of Manipur. Police said the bus in which the girl students were traveling overturned after the driver lost control. All the injured in the accident have been admitted to the Medicity Hospital in Imphal for treatment. These children belong to Thambalanu Higher Secondary School Yaripok.
