Now the pastor of a church in Mussoorie had gone to Purola village in Uttarkashi with his team to convert the people there.After preliminary investigation, the police have registered a case naming the pastor, his wife and four others. The case pertains to Chhiwala village. Chhiwala is a sparsely populated village, inhabited by residents of Uttarakhand origin as well as people of Nepal origin. In the past, some people were converting religion in the village, then the local people caught them. During this, there was an argument and a fight with the people who had come to convert the local people. Police had registered cases from both the sides.Now after the investigation, the names of Pastor Jejaras Cornelius and his wife Pushpa Cornelius of Mussoorie have also been included in the investigation in the case registered under the Conversion Act. There have been many big revelations in the case. It is being told that the pastor and his team were coming and going in Chhiwala village for years. Prayer meetings were being held here secretly. These people were spreading many types of confusion among the people of the village about their original religion, they were distributing literature related to their religion. The villagers were also lured. Many people of the village came under the temptation and had also converted their religion.Pastor of Union Church of MussoorieNow in this case, a case has been registered against the pastor and other accused on the charge of conversion. The accused pastor, Pastor Jejarus Cornelius, is the pastor of the Union Church of Mussoorie. After investigation, the accused pastor and others can be arrested soon. After the case of conversion came to the fore, the administration is keeping an eye on the entire village. Let us inform that after the amendment in the Religious Freedom Act, this is the first case registered in the state on charges of religious conversion. After amendment, the punishment under this law has been increased to 10 years.On this matter, ADG, law and order and police spokesman V Murugesan said that the police headquarters has instructed all the districts to take seriously the complaints of conversions. It has been asked to take immediate action on any complaint regarding this issue related to public sentiments. Instructions have been given to investigate the matter on priority basis. It has also been asked to take action as soon as possible. Police has also been directed to maintain law and order in the district.What is the whole matter?A case of mass conversion came to light on Christmas in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. The case is of Devdhung area of Purola. It is alleged that on December 23, the program was organized outside the newly constructed building of the NGO. The event was attended by local people along with people of Nepali origin along with some people associated with a Christian missionary. Villagers and Hindu organizations allege that Christian missionaries are doing mass conversions. Vishwa Hindu Parishad also gave a complaint to the police in this matter. On the basis of Tahrir, the police have registered a case under the Uttarakhand Religious Freedom Act 2018 against some Christian missionaries including a nominee. At the same time, after this the people of the Missionary have also lodged a cross FIR against 5 villagers including some VHP people.
