Match canceled due to rain - both teams got one point each, Gujarat out of playoff

GT vs KKR: The match between Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL-2024 has been canceled due to rain. With this, Gujarat team was out of the playoff race of the current season. On the other hand, Kolkata's place in the top-2 has been confirmed. It rained in Ahmedabad from Monday evening till night. In such a situation, the umpires decided to cancel the match after discussing with both the captains. Both teams were given one point each.

With one point from this match, KKR reached 19 points, whereas Gujarat has only 11 points and the team can reach only 13 points even after winning against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 16th May. Which is not enough to qualify. On the other hand, Kolkata has confirmed its stay in the top-2. Because no two teams in the points table will now be able to score 19 or more points. Right now Rajasthan has a chance to reach 20 points.

Kolkata-Gujarat match cancelled, GT out

The 63rd match of IPL 2024 has been canceled due to heavy rain in Ahmedabad. Rain dashed the hopes of Gujarat Titans and the team is out of the race for the playoffs. Gujarat is the third team to be out of the playoff race in IPL. Before this, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings have also been out. Due to cancellation of the match, Kolkata and Gujarat got one point each. Gujarat needed two points to remain in the playoff equation, but now got one point after the match was cancelled. Gujarat currently has 11 points from 13 matches and the team's next match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Even if Gujarat team wins that match, the team will be able to reach maximum 13 points.

In the current points table, already four teams have 14 or more points. In such a situation, GT team is out. Kolkata team has already reached the playoffs. Now the competition to reach the playoffs is between six teams. There are still three slots vacant. The teams in competition are Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants.
