Why do earthquakes happenOur earth is made up of many layers. These layers (plates) fit on top of each other several feet deep below and are constantly rubbing. Normally, the intensity of this friction is so low that we do not feel it, but when due to some natural imbalance, its intensity becomes more than the average, then earthquake tremors occur. The intensity of an earthquake is measured on the Richter scale. If the intensity is above 5, there is a possibility of more damage from the earthquake. If its intensity is less than 4 then it is considered normal.
