Central Government: The Central Government told the Rajya Sabha that lakhs of posts are vacant in the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and Assam Rifles (AR). According to the data of the Union Home Ministry, as of September 30, a total of 1,00,204 posts were vacant in CAPF and AR. According to this information, the current deployment of CAPF and AR is 9,48,204.Steps being taken to fill the vacant postsMinister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said in the Rajya Sabha that the government is taking proactive steps to fill these vacant posts soon. He informed that in the last five years, 71,231 new posts have been recruited in CAPF and AR. The minister said that the reason for the vacancies is situations like retirement, resignation, promotion, deaths, establishment of new battalions and creation of new posts, and this process continues continuously.Where are how many posts vacant?According to government data, as of October 30, 2023, a total of 1,00,204 posts are vacant in CAPF and AR. The distribution of vacancies in various forces is as follows:CRPF: 33,730 postsCISF: 31,782 postsBSF: 12,808 postsITBP: 9,861 postsSSB: 8,646 postsAssam Rifles: 3,377 postsThe minister said that the Home Ministry will soon expedite the recruitment processes through UPSC, SSC and other related forces to fill these vacant posts. Apart from this, steps are being taken to complete the recruitment process more quickly by reducing the time of medical examination.Welfare measures for CAPF personnelMinister of State for Home Nityanand Rai also informed that the government has taken several steps for the overall welfare of CAPF personnel. An important step in these efforts is that CAPF personnel are being given leave for 100 days in a year to spend with their families, so that their life can be balanced. The minister said that between 2020 and October 2024, 42,797 CAPF and AR personnel have availed 100 days leave in a year.Families of martyrs get assistanceThe minister also informed that financial assistance is given to the families of martyred CAPF and AR personnel through the 'Bharat Ke Veer' portal. Financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh is given to the families of the martyrs, and if the martyr is married, then their parents are also given assistance of Rs 10 lakh. So far, financial assistance has been provided to the families of 501 martyrs through the 'Bharat Ke Veer' portal.ConclusionThe steps being taken by the government to fill the vacant posts and for the welfare of CAPF and AR personnel make it clear that the government is committed to improving the efficiency of these forces and the standard of living of the personnel.
