Cheap electricity for charging e-vehiclesElectric vehicles are being promoted in the capital. It has been announced to provide cheap electricity for charging e-vehicles. At the charging station, people will be able to charge the battery of e-rickshaw and other e-vehicles at cheaper rates. E-vehicles can be charged at the rate of Rs 4.5 per unit on electricity connection with low tension line. Electricity bill will have to be paid at the rate of Rs 4 per unit on high tension connection.
Electricity bill will not increase in Delhi
The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has given relief to the people of Delhi who are facing economic problems due to Corona crisis. Like last year, this year also there has been no increase in electricity rates or fixed charges. With this, domestic electricity consumers will continue to get subsidy as before. Along with this, e-vehicle charging stations will also continue to get electricity at a cheaper rate. The process of scrapping power purchase agreements with old power plants has also been started to provide affordable electricity to the people. Steps have been taken to promote green electricity. The new electricity rates will be applicable from October 1.
After a long wait, DERC has declared the electricity rates for the year 2021-22.
Rejecting the demand of private power distribution companies (discoms) to increase electricity rates, the commission has decided in favor of consumers. In order to provide affordable electricity to the people of Delhi, Delhi's Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) want to end the power purchase agreement with Dadri-I, Anta Gas, Auraiya Gas, Dadri Gas, Farakka, Kahalgaon-I and Unchahar-Two power plants. . Delhi gets 1050 MW of electricity from these plants and the rates are high. DERC has raised this demand of DISCOM with the Union Power Ministry.
