Nine laborers were trapped after the underground canal of Narmada Right Bank Canal Scheme collapsed in Sleemanabad in Katni district of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. Three of these laborers have been taken out and sent to the hospital for treatment. Still five laborers are reported to be trapped in the tunnel. Police and administration are engaged in the rescue operation.Late night SDRF team has also left for the incident site from Jabalpur. Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed the administration for proper treatment of the injured.According to the information, the work of underground canal of Narmada right bank project going from Bargi to Bansagar is going on. It is being made by a private company in Hyderabad. The soil of the underground canal collapsed late Saturday evening. Due to this, nine laborers working inside the underground canal got buried. Police and administration officials reached the spot after getting information about the incident. After which relief and rescue work is going on. The work of removing the soil is being done by machines. Three laborers have been evacuated and sent to the hospital for treatment.Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan instructed the Katni administration to help the injuredChief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has expressed grief over the accident and injuries to workers during tunnel construction in Sleemanabad. The Chief Minister has directed the Katni district administration to expedite the rescue operation to rescue the trapped laborers along with proper treatment of the injured and necessary relief work in the affected area.
