J&K Election 2024: The alliance of National Conference and Congress is moving fast towards victory in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Omar Abdullah's spectacular victory

National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah has won a big victory from Budgam seat, where he defeated PDP's Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi by a margin of 18,485 votes. Omar Abdullah got a total of 36,010 votes, while his rival Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi got 17,525 votes. Omar Abdullah has been the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir before, and with this victory he has once again proved his popularity.

Omar Abdullah is also leading strongly on Ganderbal seat. 20 rounds of counting are to be held on this seat, out of which 15 rounds have been completed. So far, Omar Abdullah has got 30,736 votes, while PDP's Bashir Ahmed Mir is trailing him by 9,766 votes with 20,970 votes. Independent candidate Ishfaq Ahmed Sheikh is in third place.

Tough fight in Budgam

The Budgam assembly seat had become very important politically this time. A total of 8 candidates were in the fray for this seat, including three independent candidates. The main contest was between Omar Abdullah of the National Conference and Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi of the PDP. Apart from these, Aga Syed Ahmed Moosavi of Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference (JKANC), Gazanfar Maqbool Shah of SP and Nisar Ahmed Pal of JKPDF were also contesting from this seat. In this election, the alliance of National Conference and Congress won this seat, making the election result of Budgam very special.

Growing influence of National Conference

The performance of the National Conference has been very good in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. The party is leading on 41 seats alone, while Congress is leading on 6 seats. On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading on 29 seats. These figures make it clear that the National Conference and Congress alliance has gained public support in Jammu and Kashmir.
