Omicron Test Kit OmiSure is developed by Tata Medical. Let us inform that on behalf of ICMR, Tata Medical and Diagnostics Limited's Omicron test kit Omisure was approved on December 30. The Omisure test kit will work in the same way as other RT-PCR test kits. A swab will also be taken from the nose or mouth for testing with this kit. Then the final report of the test will come in just 10 to 15 minutes as in other RT-PCR tests. The method of testing with Omisure will not be any different from other RT-PCR tests.
Omisure test kit price
Tata Medical has fixed the price of OmiSure Test Kit (OmiSure) at Rs 250 per test, which is cheaper than other existing test kits available in the market. However, additional charges may be added by the laboratories for the test as it is not a home-based test.
This test cannot be done at home
You cannot test at home with this kit, so lab charges may be levied separately. Tata MD currently has a capacity to produce 2,00,000 test kits per month. The company plans to sell it abroad and has applied to the European Union and the US Food and Drug Administration.
Odisha orders five lakh test kits
Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL) has placed an order for five lakh Omisure RT-PCR kits. Odisha has become the first state in the country to do so, which has ordered kits to detect Omicron in COVID-19 positive samples.
