Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Parliament House, New Delhi. During this, the Chief Minister requested the Union Home Minister to cooperate with the Center in implementing the Him Prahari scheme in the districts of international borders. After the meeting, the CM also gave a statement regarding the Uniform Civil Code.The Chief Minister said that the Uttarakhand government has decided to stop the migration from the villages of international border districts (Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Champawat and Khatima of Udham Singh Nagar), police, ITBP and SSB for relief and rescue operations in divine disaster. It is proposed to form Border Guarding Teams/Snow Prahari Teams with cooperation.Honorarium is proposed in the form of incentive allowance to the persons involved in the said team. An expenditure of about Rs. 5 crore 45 lakh is estimated on this. The cooperation of the Center is requested in this. Dhami urged for sanctioning a budget of Rs 20 to 25 crore per year in the State Police Force Modernization Scheme to make the state police more effective and modern.Told Nirbhaya Fund important for relief and rehabilitation of womenThe Chief Minister said that Nirbhaya Fund is very important for the relief and rehabilitation of women victims of crime. A proposal of Rs 25 crore has been remitted from the Center for the Nirbhaya Fund by the state government. He also requested for early approval of the said proposal. 527 crore has been approved for Uttarakhand under the 'Scheme of Financial Assistance to States for Capital Investment' by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. In this head, an amount of 365 crores was released earlier. Now the remaining amount of Rs 162 crore has also been released. In this way, the entire amount of 527 crores has been released by the Government of India.CM's statement regarding Uniform Civil CodeExpressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for important financial approvals, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Uttarakhand is moving ahead on the path of development with the guidance of the Prime Minister and the cooperation of the Central Government. Apart from this, he said that the implementation of Uniform Civil Code will be an important step towards fulfilling the dreams of the framers of the Constitution. The scope of this law will be equally for all citizens, irrespective of religion they believe in. This will embody the spirit of the Constitution. He said that a committee of jurists, retired judges, intellectuals of the society and other stakeholders would be constituted in the matter. The committee will prepare a draft of the Uniform Civil Code.
