Gandhi Jayanti 2024: The birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi is being celebrated across the country today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and bowed to him at Rajghat in the capital Delhi. PM Modi posted on the social media platform X and wrote, "On behalf of all the countrymen, salute to Pujya Bapu on his birth anniversary. His life and ideals based on truth, harmony and equality will always remain an inspiration for the countrymen."

Sarva Dharma Prayer Meeting organized

On the occasion of the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a Sarva Dharma Prayer Meeting was organized at Rajghat, in which representatives of all religions participated. Union ministers as well as senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party were also present in the program. The event reflects Gandhiji's universal values, which were based on truth and non-violence. He was born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat and was one of the most prominent leaders of the Indian freedom struggle.

Mahatma Gandhi played an important role in liberating India from British rule through the principles of non-violence and Satyagraha. He taught the whole world how even the biggest conflict can be resolved by following the path of non-violence. Keeping these thoughts in mind, the United Nations has recognized October 2 as "International Non-Violence Day", which is still celebrated globally.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was also saluted

Along with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the birth anniversary of India's second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri is also being celebrated. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Shastri ji and said, "Respectful tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri ji on his birth anniversary, who dedicated his life for the soldiers, farmers and self-respect of the country." PM Modi paid tribute to Shastri ji by visiting Vijay Ghat, where his Samadhi Sthal is located.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on 2 October 1904 in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh. People still remember Shastriji's simplicity, humility and hard work. During the 1965 Indo-Pakistani War, he gave the slogan "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan" instilling confidence in the countrymen, which inspired the soldiers and farmers of the country.

Legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and Shastriji

Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri both hold an important place in the history of India. Gandhiji showed the path of non-violence and satyagraha in getting India independence, while Shastriji led the country towards self-reliance with his leadership. Today, on the birth anniversary of these two great leaders, the whole country is remembering their contribution and taking a pledge to carry forward their ideals.

Gandhiji's path of non-violence and truth and Shastriji's slogan of "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan", both are relevant even in today's era. Their legacy will always live in our hearts and will continue to inspire us towards a better society.
