Lumbini (Nepal). Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Nepal on Monday that the people here are also happy with the temple of Lord Ram being built in Ayodhya. Prime Minister Modi, who arrived here on a one-day visit to Nepal, was addressing a program organized on Buddha Jayanti at Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. He said, “I know that when a grand temple of Lord Shri Ram is being built in India today, the people of Nepal are equally happy.” Describing Lord Buddha as "the embodiment of the collective realization of humanity", Modi said he is both an "intelligence" and a "research". He also described Buddha as a thought and a sacrament.

The Prime Minister said, 'Common heritage, common culture and common faith and shared love are our greatest asset. The richer this capital is, the more effectively we will be able to convey the message of Lord Buddha to the world… we can give direction to the world. The deepening friendship, our closeness, will serve the benefit of all humanity. Faith in Lord Buddha binds us in a thread. Makes a family member."

Modi worshiped at Maya Devi temple

Before attending the event, on reaching Lumbini, Prime Minister Modi first offered prayers at the Maya Devi temple located here on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. Prime Minister Modi was accompanied by his Nepalese counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba on a visit to this historic temple located in Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. Modi and Deuba then laid the foundation stone for the construction of the India International Center for Buddhist Culture and Heritage (India International Center for Buddhist Culture and Heritage) in the Lumbini Buddhist Vihara area.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi then held discussions with Nepal's Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, to explore new areas in the multi-faceted bilateral partnership and to strengthen existing cooperation in all dimensions. After the meeting between the two leaders, six MoUs were signed on strengthening cultural ties, cooperation in the education sector and projects related to hydroelectric power. One of the major highlights of this visit is the joint development of Arun-4 Hydroelectric Project between the two neighboring countries.
