India - Rahul gandhi may have to vacate the government bungalow if he does not get relief from the upper court
Rahul Gandhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's difficulties seem to be increasing after his disqualification as an MP. Rahul Gandhi may have to vacate his government bungalow in Delhi within a month if he does not get relief from the higher court in the criminal defamation case. This bungalow was allotted to Rahul Gandhi after he was elected Lok Sabha MP in 2004.

After a Surat court convicted Rahul Gandhi in a 2019 criminal defamation case and sentenced him to two years in prison, the Lok Sabha Secretariat on Friday disqualified him as an MP. Granting him bail, the Surat court has given him 30 days to appeal in the higher court. An official of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development said that the commission has been declared by the Lok Sabha. That's why Rahul Gandhi is not entitled to a government accommodation. As per the rules, he will have to vacate his bungalow within one month from the date of the commission's order.

Priyanka Gandhi had to vacate the bungalow in 2020

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had to vacate her official bungalow at Lodhi Estate in July 2020, as she was not eligible for it after the security was reduced. The Congress party has said that it will fight the political and legal battle against Rahul Gandhi's conviction and disqualification till the last breath.

Targeting the government, the Congress party said that this is a dark day for Indian democracy. The battle will be fought both legally and politically. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the BJP made all efforts to disqualify Rahul Gandhi as he was always speaking the truth. Kharge alleged that he has been removed from the House for speaking the truth, fighting for the Constitution and the rights of the people, but this fight will continue.
