Bharat Jodo Yatra: Congressmen excited by Bharat Jodo Yatra 1.0 have been repeatedly demanding Bharat Jodo Yatra 2.0 from Rahul Gandhi before the Lok Sabha elections. But part-2 could not start due to an old injury in Rahul's knee in the first leg of the journey itself. Barely amidst pain, Rahul completed the 3500 kilometer journey on foot from South (Kanyakumari) to North (Kashmir).Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, after a huge demand in the party, in the Congress Working Committee meeting held on December 21, put forward the demand for a joint visit to Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi has agreed to the yatra, but in the same meeting, all the leaders advocated the second phase of the yatra in a new format instead of just a padyatra in view of the Lok Sabha elections.
- This time, the Bharat Jodo Yatra has been said to go from South to North and then from East (Arunachal Pradesh) to West (Gujarat).
- In view of the Lok Sabha elections, it has been asked to pay special focus on North-Eastern states like Odisha, Bihar, Bengal, Jharkhand, UP, Gujarat.
- There should be a padyatra before rallies or important programs. Apart from that, buses, bicycles, bikes as well as tractors and trucks should be used. With this, more programs can be organized in less time and due to elections, the journey can be completed quickly.
- Emphasis has been laid on starting the Bharat Jodo Yatra from the second or third week of January and completing it within 60 days by the second or third week of March.
- To show the unity of India Alliance, there is talk of including leaders of different parties in it.
At present the proposal has been made from Parshuram Kund of Arunachal in the east to Porbandar or Sabarmati of Gujarat in the west. Actually, Rahul Gandhi considers himself a devotee of Shiva and a follower of Mahatma Gandhi. In such a situation, it is being advocated to start this Yatra from Parshuram Kund situated amidst the dense Rudraksha trees and end at Mahatma Gandhi's Sabarmati. All these suggestions have come in the meeting but what will be the route and format of this yatra is yet to be finalized.
