RCB vs DC: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has once again suffered a crushing defeat on its home ground. In its fifth match of IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals defeated Bangalore by 6 wickets to register its second consecutive win in the tournament. In this exciting match played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore's batting faltered once again, while KL Rahul turned the tables of the match by scoring a tremendous half-century for Delhi.

Bangalore's batting entangled in the web of spin

RCB, who came out to bat first after losing the toss, had an explosive start. Phil Salt gave Delhi an early blow by hitting 30 runs in one over of Mitchell Starc. But in the fourth over, a misunderstanding between Virat Kohli and Salt put a brake on the team's pace. Salt was run out and from here the direction of the match started changing.

After this, the spin duo of Vipraaj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav gripped the Bangalore batsmen. Captain Rajat Patidar, Jitesh Sharma and other middle-order batsmen were seen struggling to score runs. Tim David certainly took the team to a respectable score of 163 by scoring a quick 37 runs in 20 balls, but it proved insufficient.

Rahul and Stubbs' partnership did wonders

Delhi had a very bad start while chasing the target of 163 runs. The team lost three wickets for just 30 runs. Yash Dayal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave early blows and raised hopes of Bangalore's comeback in the match. After this, captain Akshar Patel also returned to the pavilion cheaply and Delhi was struggling at 58/4.

But from here KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs took charge. Both of them started grooming the innings by playing with patience. Delhi's score was only 99 runs till 14 overs and due to the possibility of rain, the pressure of DLS score was also increasing. In such a situation, Rahul adopted an aggressive attitude and changed the course of the match by hitting 22 runs to Josh Hazlewood in the 15th over.

Rahul played an unbeaten innings of 93 runs in 53 balls, which included many spectacular fours and sixes. Stubbs also supported him brilliantly by scoring 38 runs. Both of them together ensured victory in the 18th over itself.

What does this defeat say for RCB?

This defeat is very worrying for RCB. Two consecutive defeats on home ground, failure of the top order and struggle against spin are alarm bells for the team. At the same time, the form of an experienced batsman like Rahul in the Delhi team and the performance of young bowlers can help them move forward strongly in the tournament.

Now it remains to be seen what changes RCB makes in its strategy and how it tries to make a comeback, because the expectations of the fans are still attached to the team.
