Royal Challengers Bangalore: Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday appointed a new cricket director for the IPL, the team announced on social media. The franchise has appointed England men's team performance director Mo Bobat to the role previously held by Mike Hesson. Bobat is set to leave his post at the ECB early next year.RCB tweetedRCB wrote in its Twitter post that RCB has appointed Mo Bobat as the Director of Cricket for IPL. Bobat has served England Cricket as their performance director since 2019, and has been part of the ECB set-up for 12 years, during which England won the T20I and ODI World Cups. Bobat has also worked very closely with Andy Flower during his coaching stint with England.What did Bobat say?Bobat has worked with England for 12 years. He joined the England men's under-19 program in 2011, before being appointed the ECB's first player identification lead role five years later in 2016. He was named England's performance director in 2019 and will step down from the post early next year. “I have had the most amazing 12 years at the ECB and it has been both an honor and a privilege to spend the last four years as Performance Director,” Bobt said after his appointment. It has really been our duty to support our efforts for many Ashes campaigns and the World Cup.He further said that I will always be grateful for all the opportunities and support I have received over the years and will take with me many special memories, shared achievements and friendships. I would like to thank all my current and former colleagues and everyone. Certainly all the players I've been able to enjoy time with.
