West Bengal News: Red alert has been issued regarding heavy rains in the coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha. Today and tomorrow, fishermen have been asked to stay away from the sea due to cyclone Remal. The Meteorological Department says that the cyclone will become more severe in the next 6 hours. Coast Guard is on alert in the Bay of Bengal. Along with the sea, surveillance is also being kept from the sky. The Coast Guard is continuously warning fishermen and boats in the Bay of Bengal not to venture into the sea today and tomorrow.

People living on the sea shore have been asked to move to safe places. Red alert has been issued in coastal districts of West Bengal like South and North 24 Parganas today and tomorrow. The Meteorological Department says that winds can blow at a speed of 110 to 120 km/hour. This can happen up to 130 km in North and South Parganas. Winds can blow at a speed of 70-80 km/hour in East Midnapore, Howrah, Hooghly, Kolkata.

Possibility of heavy rain on 27-28 May

According to the Meteorological Department, the deep depression over East-Central Bay of Bengal transformed into cyclonic storm 'Remal'. The storm is expected to hit the coast between Sagar Island in West Bengal and Khepupara in Bangladesh at midnight today, causing extremely heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of West Bengal and North Odisha today and tomorrow. There is a possibility of heavy rain in some parts of North-East India on 27-28 May.

394 flights were canceled

There is a possibility of impact on rail and road traffic due to storm Ramal. Flights have also been badly affected. Due to this, flights have been suspended for 21 hours from today afternoon. 394 flights, both international and domestic, have been cancelled. There is a possibility of heavy rain in coastal districts like Balasore, Bhadrak and Kendrapara in North Odisha today and tomorrow. People in the affected areas have been advised to stay indoors. NDRF is on alert. Army and Navy have also been asked to remain alert.
