Richard Illingworth And Michael Gough Named On-field Umpires

WTC Final | England's Richard Illingworth and Michael Gough will be the on-field umpires for the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand to be held in Southampton from June 18. Former England opener Chris Broad will play the role of ICC match referee in this prestigious match. The ICC said in a statement that Richard Cattlebrough, a member of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) elite panel, will be the TV umpire while Alex Worf of the Emirates ICC International Umpires Panel will be the fourth umpire.

ICC Senior Manager (umpire and referee) Adrian Griffith said, “We are delighted to announce a team of experienced match officials for the finals of the World Test Championship. There are no easy times but we are fortunate to have a group of officers who have consistently done well over the years in this prestigious contest. We wish them all the best.”

Richard Illingworth has officiated in 74 matches while Michael Gough has 27 matches officiating experience. Apart from these two on-field umpires, Richard Keitelberg, who plays the role of TV umpire, has experience in umpiring 94 matches. In these 94 matches, Keitelberg was in the role of TV umpire in 25 matches. Chris Broad has played the role of referee in 107 matches so far. Alex Warf has the experience of umpiring in 7 matches till date.

During the Test match to be played in Southampton, 4 thousand spectators will be able to watch this historic final match live on the field. India's team has reached England and is currently in Quarantine. Only after the completion of the quarantine time, the players of the Indian team will be able to come out and participate in the practice session together.
