Russian news channel RT News quoted Nikita Kondratyev, director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects at Russia's Ministry of Economic Development, as saying that India has made progress on the issue.

India and Russia are preparing

The draft agreement will be discussed in June and is expected to be signed by the end of the year, the minister said on the sidelines of the international economic forum, "Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Forum 2024" in Kazan. “Russia and India look forward to strengthening their tourism ties as they prepare to launch visa-free group tourist exchanges,” the minister said. The first round of discussions between the two countries will be held in June with the aim of finalizing the bilateral agreement by the end of the year.

The aim is to promote tourism

According to Nikita Kondratyev, Russia plans to repeat such agreements with India already made with China and Iran. Russia and China launched the exchange of visa-free group tours on August 1 last year. On the same day, Russia signed a similar agreement with Iran to promote a new era of tourism cooperation.
