Cricket Desk: Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the umpires and Tom Curran were involved in a bit of a controversy during the match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Sharjah. In the fifth ball of the 18th over during RR’s innings, Curran was given out, caught behind. Curran wanted to go for the review right away, but couldn’t as Rahul Tewatia had already used it up for an LBW call. However, replays suggested that the ball didn’t carry to MS Dhoni and bounced before him. The decision was thereafter sent upstairs and Curran was given ‘not out’. The third umpire didn’t check for the LBW though and replays showed that the batsman was out trapped in front. Deepak Chahar was the bowler, who gave away 31 runs in his four overs, picking up Yashasvi Jaiswal’s wicket. In the meantime, Sakshi Dhoni, MS Dhoni’s spouse, lashed out at the umpire, alleging that they didn’t make proper use of technology. She took to Twitter and wrote, “If u r using the technology, then use it the right way… out is out whether its catch out or lbw…” Later, she deleted the tweet as well, sensing that it could spark another controversy. As far as the match was concerned, it turned out to be a high-scoring affair. The Royals, on the backs of Sanju Samson’s 74 and Steve Smith’s 69 posted a massive 216 for seven on the board. In the last over, Jofra Archer smashed four sixes and took as many as 30 runs off Lungi Ngidi to propel the Royals. The onslaught turned out to be decisive as CSK lost the match by 16 runs. For the Super Kings, a number of their batters scored in their 20s and 30s, but failed to carry on and convert their starts. Faf du Plessis was the standout performer for them, scoring 72 runs off 37 balls with the help of one four and seven sixes. He started slowly, but later picked up in pace.Dhoni came to bat at number seven and couldn’t get going in the initial phase of his knock. But in the 20th over, he smashed Curran for three sixes and ended with 29 off 17 balls. His team ended with 200 for six in their 20 overs.
