Second phase of voting continues in Jammu and Kashmir, fate of many bigwigs is at stake

J&K Election 2024: Voting is being held on 26 seats today in the second phase of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, in which about 25 lakh voters will decide the fate of 239 candidates. Some of the prominent candidates in this phase include former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Jammu and Kashmir Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hamid Karra and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravinder Raina. The 26 seats on which voting is being held fall under 6 districts. Of these, 3 districts are from Kashmir Division and 3 districts are from Jammu Division.

Voting is being held on 26 seats in 6 districts for polling today. These include 2 seats in Ganderbal district of Kashmir Division, 8 seats in Srinagar and 5 seats in Budgam. Jammu Division has 3 seats in Reasi district, 5 seats in Rajouri and 3 seats in Poonch.

Appeal of prominent leaders

In the second phase, BJP is contesting on 17 out of 26 seats, out of which 11 seats are in Jammu and 6 seats in Kashmir. National Conference is in the fray on 20 out of 26 seats, out of which 14 are in Kashmir and 6 in Jammu. Congress is contesting on 6 seats and PDP on 24 seats.

First election in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi constituency

In this election, voting is being held for the first time in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi constituency. This new area created after delimitation is a new challenge for BJP candidate Baldev Raj Sharma. As voting is being held for the first time in this area, this is a historic moment for the people here.
