Badlapur Protest: Badlapur, a small town in Maharashtra, has today become the center of an incident that has shaken the entire state. On one hand, the echo of the tragic incident with the trainee doctor in Kolkata had not yet died down when another heart-wrenching incident came to light in Badlapur. The news of sexual abuse of two innocent girls aged 3 and 4 years in a school here filled people with anger.Details of the incident:On August 16, 23-year-old accused Akshay Shinde sexually abused two girls in the school bathroom in a school in Badlapur. The next day, on August 17, the parents of the girls lodged a report with the police, after which the accused was arrested. The police registered the incident under the POCSO Act and considering the seriousness of the case, an SIT (Special Investigation Team) has been formed.After the incident, the area's woman inspector Shubhada Shitole was transferred, while the school's principal, class teacher and a female employee have been suspended. It has been recommended to run the case in a fast track court so that the culprits can be punished as soon as possible.Public outrage and violence:After the incident came to light, the angry public expressed their anger. People started protesting on the tracks of Badlapur railway station from 8 am on Tuesday, due to which many local train services came to a halt. The police had to resort to lathicharge and tear gas shells to control the crowd. Despite this, the mob pelted stones, in which many people were injured.There was also vandalism and demonstrations at the school, where angry people raised slogans against the school administration and demanded strict action against the culprits.Political reactions:Opposition leaders of the state have questioned the law and order situation over the incident. Former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that this incident is a shame for Maharashtra and the culprits should be punished as soon as possible. He expressed concern over the delay in justice and appealed to avoid giving it a political color.Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray condemned the incident through social media and questioned the working style of the police. He said that the laxity of the police in such incidents is worrying and his workers will remain vigilant till justice is served.SP leader Abu Azmi termed the incident as tragic and demanded that the culprits be hanged publicly. He said that strict steps need to be taken to prevent such incidents.Demand for justice and way forward:This gruesome incident has shaken the entire Maharashtra.
