Mumbai : Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar claimed that the biggest contribution to Bollywood has been the Muslim community and it cannot be ignored. The former Chief Minister of Maharashtra said that minorities and Urdu language have contributed in all areas of the country. Pawar said, "Today in all fields, be it art, writing or poetry, the biggest contribution comes from the minorities and has come from the Urdu language. Muslim minorities have contributed the most in taking Bollywood to the top. Can't ignore."
'Muslims did not get their fair share'Addressing an event titled 'Issues before Indian Muslims' organized by Vidarbha Muslim Intellectual Manch, Pawar said, "The members of the Muslim community feel that despite being such a large part of the country, they are not getting their due share, Which is actually a reality. It should be discussed how they can get their fair share." Responding to an old speaker demanding the use of Urdu in government recruitment examinations, Pawar praised the language and said many people have been associated with it for generations. "We should think about Urdu schools and education, but along with Urdu we also have to think about the main language of a state," he said.
'Majority of minorities in Kerala'Pawar said that there is a large proportion of minorities in Kerala and one needs to study how the minorities in that state, which has the highest literacy rate, are supporting the main language and what are the benefits. He said that unemployment is an issue among all communities in the country, although the complaints made by the minorities on this front are genuine and need to be looked into. Pawar told the gathering that the NCP has always tried to give adequate representation to minorities, as two of the party's eight MPs are Muslims.
