Maharashtra | The Election Commission on Monday allotted a new name to the Shiv Sena faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The Election Commission has allotted the name 'Balasahebanchi ShivSena' as the party name for Shinde. 'Balsahebanchi Shiv Sena' is a Marathi name meaning 'Balasaheb's Shiv Sena' in Hindi. At the same time, the name of Uddhav Thackeray's faction will be 'ShivSena - Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray'. After the Election Commission allotted the name 'Shiv Sena - Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray', Uddhav Thackeray faction leader Bhaskar Jadhav said, "We are very happy, consider it a big victory."Along with this, the Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray got a good news from the Election Commission. The Uddhav faction has been allotted the 'Mashal' election symbol from the Election Commission. One of the three symbols handed over by the Uddhav faction to the Election Commission was 'Mashaal'. But no election symbol has been allotted to Shinde faction. Because the Election Commission rejected Shiv Sena's suggestion to allot trishul and mace as election symbols for rival factions, citing religious connotations. Along with this, the commission has asked the Shinde faction to choose a new election symbol. The election symbol was allotted to the Uddhav faction because one of the symbols they suggested was 'Mashaal' which according to the commission has "no religious connotation".Shiv Sena's Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde-led camps had formally submitted three alternative symbols and names of their choice to the Election Commission. The commission had on Saturday night banned the party's 'bow-arrow' symbol and asked both the camps to suggest alternative symbols and party names. Significantly, on Saturday, the Commission had banned both the Shiv Sena camps from using the party's name and symbol in the November 3 by-election to the Andheri East assembly seat. In an interim order on claims of rival camps for control of the party, the commission had asked the two to name three different names and symbols of their choice by Monday.
