SpiceJet's system was attacked by a ransomware on the night of Tuesday, 24 May. This slowed down operations related to its flights and affected many early morning flights. The airline has given this information via Twitter on Wednesday.


According to SpiceJet, a ransomware attack was attempted in SpiceJet's system last night and due to this some flights were delayed this morning. Our IT team has controlled and rectified the situation. Now flights are running normally.


SpiceJet flight stopped in Delhi last week too

Last week also the SpiceJet flight was stopped in Delhi, the reason behind this was said to be the aviation company's non-payment of the Airport Authority of India. The airline's spokesperson had said that the daily payments were delayed due to a technical glitch in the software. After that the operation became normal. AAI has allowed SpiceJet to operate the plane on cash and carry basis in 2020 as the airline was unable to clear its old dues on time.


Claim to start broadband in flight soon

A few days ago, SpiceJet had told that it expects to start broadband internet service in its planes soon. According to its website, the aviation company has 91 aircraft in its fleet, including 13 Maxplanes and 46 older version Boeing 737 aircraft.


Dispute also settled with Credit Suisse

SpiceJet on Wednesday said it has signed and concluded settlement and agreement terms in the ongoing dispute with Swiss-based Credit Suisse. The airline said in a statement that the terms of the agreement and consent reached on May 23 were also filed before the Supreme Court for final orders.


SpiceJet did not divulge much details about this, but did say that it has made a timeline to make an advance payment of a certain amount and make a full payment mutually agreed upon for reconciliation. The airline said that it has already provided a bank guarantee of USD 5 million as per the order of the Madras High Court in this matter and now the company has no financial liability.
