Let's take a look at the timeline of this case- August 8, 2023 - For the first time, the ED issued summons to the then Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren for questioning in the land scam case.
- August 14, 2023 - Soren said that he has already given all the necessary information and documents. He demanded the ED to withdraw the summons. Also, warned of legal action.
- December 11, 2023 - ED issued a fresh summons and called him for questioning the very next day, i.e. on December 12.
- 16 January, 2024 – When ED issued the eighth summons to Soren, he agreed to join the interrogation. Soren said that he will record his statement at the Secretariat on 20 January.
- 20 January, 2024 – ED recorded Soren's statement for the first time in the money laundering case.
- 23 January, 2024 – ED once again issued summons and asked Soren to be present for interrogation any day between 27 and 30 January.
- 26 January, 2024 – Soren told ED that he will respond to the summons soon.
- 29 January, 2024 – Meanwhile, ED officials searched Hemant Soren's Delhi residence. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister went 'missing' for two days. Finally, he was seen holding a meeting of MLAs supporting his government in Ranchi. 30 January 2024 – According to reports, Hemant Soren got the MLAs supporting the government to sign a letter of support. He also rejected the allegations of the Bharatiya Janata Party that he had disappeared to avoid ED investigation.
- 31 January 2024 – Hemant Soren was taken into custody by the ED and questioned for a long time. After the interrogation, Soren resigned to the Governor of Jharkhand. The ED arrested Soren.
- 4 February 2024 – Hemant Soren approached the Jharkhand High Court for bail. The High Court reserved the decision on February 28 after a long hearing.
- 3 May 2024 – The Jharkhand High Court pronounced its verdict on Soren's petition challenging the arrest. The High Court rejected the bail plea.
- 7 May 2024 – A fresh hearing on Hemant Soren's petition began in the Supreme Court.
- 22 May, 2024 – The Supreme Court refused to grant interim bail to Hemant Soren to campaign in view of the Lok Sabha elections. Soren had sought bail on the lines of the relief given to Arvind Kejriwal by the Supreme Court for campaigning.
- 27 May, 2024 – Soren once again filed a bail petition in the Jharkhand High Court.
- 13 June, 2024 – On Soren's bail plea, the Jharkhand High Court reserved its decision on June 13 after hearing the arguments of both the parties.
- 28 June, 2024 – Today the Jharkhand High Court read out its reserved decision and granted bail to Hemant Soren.
