Holi is one of the most prominent festivals in India. The tradition of celebrating this festival of color, gulaal, affection and devotion has been going on for centuries. But do you know that there are many villages in India where there is no custom to celebrate Holi for a long time. Let us tell you about some such villages in India.

Rudraprayag (Uttarakhand) - In Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, there are two villages named Kurjhan and Quigley, where the festival of Holi has not been celebrated for nearly 150 years. Local residents here believe that Tripura Sundari, the head goddess of the area, does not like the noise. Hence people in these villages avoid celebrating Holi.

Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand is the name of the place where the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers take place. Devotees definitely visit the Koteshwar Mahadev Temple here. It is believed that Lord Shiva hid himself here in a miraculous cave to escape from the eyes of a demon named Bhasmasura.

Durgapur (Jharkhand) - The Kasmar block of Bokaro in Durgapur village of Jharkhand does not celebrate Holi. About 1000 people living in this village have not celebrated the festival of Holi for more than 100 years. People claim that if someone blew the colors of Holi, then his death is certain.

The villagers say that 100 years ago a king played Holi here, which he had to pay. The king's son died on the day of Holi. Incidentally, the king also died on the day of Holi. Before dying, the king ordered the people here not to celebrate Holi.

Tamil Nadu - People living in Tamil Nadu also do not traditionally celebrate Holi, as is celebrated every year in North India. It is said that Holi falls on the full moon day and in Tamilian this day is dedicated to Masi Magam.

On this day, their fathers descend from the sky to the earth to take a dip in the holy rivers and ponds. Therefore, celebrating Holi on this day is considered taboo.

Ramson Village (Gujarat) - A village named Ramson in Banaskantha district of Gujarat has also not celebrated the festival of Holi for the last 200 years. The name of this village was earlier Rameshwar. It is believed that Lord Rama came here once in his lifetime.

It is said that due to the misconduct of an egotistical king, some saints cursed this village to remain colorless on the festival. Since then, the practice of not celebrating Holi is going on in this village.
