Delhi Election - The time has come to free Delhi from AAP-Da... Amit Shah lashes out at AAP
Delhi Election: During the Delhi Assembly election campaign, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the slum head conference in New Delhi. In his speech, Shah made sharp attacks on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He termed AAP as a disaster for Delhi and said that now the time has come to free Delhi from this disaster.Shah's attack on AAPAmit Shah said in his address that the Aam Aadmi Party government has made Delhi a home of problems instead of development in the last 10 years. He said, "If you open the water tap in Delhi, dirty water comes out, dirty air comes from the window, the condition of the roads is bad and the water of Yamuna river has become polluted. All this is the result of the disaster government. Now the time has come that on February 5, Delhiites should decide to get free from this disaster."Targeting the issue of corruptionDescribing the AAP government as number one in corruption, Shah said that the education system in Delhi has collapsed. He claimed that students of class 9th and 11th are failing the most and about 5.25 lakh children are not able to go to school. Shah questioned that if Arvind Kejriwal cannot do anything for Delhi, then he has no right to remain in power. He said, "This is a Chief Minister who does not resign even after going to jail. Now the time has come for the people to oust him from power."Mention of Ram temple and Article 370In his speech, Amit Shah also mentioned the achievements of the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that when the Modi government had promised to build the Ram temple, Kejriwal had questioned it. Shah said, "We not only built the Ram temple, but also built toilets across the country. When we talked about removing Article 370 from Kashmir, Kejriwal had raised questions even then. But we removed 370 and also built houses for 3.98 crore poor people of the country."Promise for slum dwellersAmit Shah assured the slum dwellers that every slum dweller will be given a permanent house when the BJP government is formed. He said that the poor welfare schemes of the Modi government will continue as before and do not believe the false rumours being spread by the opposition. He said, "These people are saying that the schemes will stop when the BJP government comes, but nothing like this will happen. Whatever schemes are going on, they will continue as before."Use of harsh words on KejriwalAmit Shah directly targeted Arvind Kejriwal and said that the people of Delhi have to get rid of him. He said, "Kejriwal did not give the benefit of toilets to the slum dwellers, but definitely got an expensive toilet built in Sheeshmahal. This government is running only on show-off and false promises. Now the time has come for the people of Delhi to uproot these disaster-bringers from power."5 February declared as Liberation DayShah, in his address, declared 5 February as Delhi's "Liberation Day". He said that this day will be the day to free Delhi from corruption, dirt, pollution and false government. He said, "5 February is the opportunity for the people to throw these people out of power once and for all. This election is not just about Delhi, but to change the direction and condition of Delhi."ConclusionThis address of Amit Shah was an important part of the election campaign of BJP. The main focus of his speech was to highlight the failures of the Aam Aadmi Party government and to convey the development work of BJP to the people. He tried to win over the slum dwellers by promising them permanent houses. Now it remains to be seen whom the people of Delhi choose on 5 February and whether BJP succeeds in its election strategy.
