The governments of Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan have signed an agreement to ensure smooth movement of passenger vehicles in the National Capital Region. Under this, there will be a system of single point taxation for the transport vehicles of the state corporations. The Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry gave this information on Friday.With this agreement, buses and other vehicles of educational institutions have been given relief in taxes including road tax. The Ministry informed that the states of NCR have decided to forego such revenues in the larger interest of clean NCR.The statement said that this would result in an annual loss of revenue of about Rs 100 crore, so the four states have formed a joint mutual sharing scheme comprising contract carriages and stage carriages carrying more than six passengers. Transport Agreement (CRCTA) has been signed, as the earlier agreement is expiring.The CRCTA has come into force with immediate effect and vehicles of all educational institutions and all stage carriage buses of state transport of NCR states will be covered under it. agency
Features of CRCTA- The agreement also provides for single point taxation for comprehensive public transport vehicles of state transport undertaking inter-city buses to reduce heavy traffic and air pollution. As per the Agreement, all permits/licenses including Temporary Permits/Licenses (Contract Carriage and Stage Carriage, as applicable) shall be issued on the Vehicle Software only.
- The age of stage carriage vehicles as well as contract carriage vehicles shall be limited to 10 years for diesel vehicles and 15 years for petrol/CNG vehicles unless further directions are issued in this regard.
- All public service vehicles (except those specifically exempted by MoRTH) shall be compulsorily fitted with Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) and one or more emergency buttons to comply with MoRTH notifications.
- The CRCTA will come into force with immediate effect and will be valid for 10 years for seamless movement of passenger vehicles.
