Share Market News: Last week, the Indian stock market registered a sharp rise, increasing the market capitalization (market cap) of six of the top 10 most valued companies in the country. The BSE Sensex jumped 1,906.33 points (2.38%), while the NSE Nifty closed with a gain of 546.7 points (2.26%). Reliance Industries, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Infosys and State Bank of India directly benefited from this rise.

TCS and HDFC Bank won

The market valuation of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) increased by Rs 62,574.82 crore to Rs 16,08,782.61 crore. HDFC Bank also added Rs 45,338.17 crore, taking its market cap to Rs 14,19,270.28 crore.

Apart from this:

Infosys: Up Rs 26,885.8 crore to Rs 7,98,560.13 crore.

State Bank of India (SBI): Up Rs 22,311.55 crore to Rs 7,71,087.17 crore.

ICICI Bank: Up Rs 19,821.33 crore to Rs 9,37,545.57 crore.

These companies suffered a decline

Despite the week-long rally, major companies like Bharti Airtel, ITC, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), and Hindustan Unilever suffered losses.

Bharti Airtel: Market cap fell Rs 16,720.1 crore to Rs 9,10,005.80 crore.

ITC: Market cap fell Rs 7,256.27 crore to Rs 5,89,572.01 crore.

Factors that will determine market direction next week

Experts believe that the stance of foreign portfolio investors (FPIs), global economic conditions, interest rate trends and geopolitical events will determine the market direction. Apart from this, the third quarter results of Indian companies and the country's economic growth will also affect investor sentiment.

According to depository data, FPIs have made a net investment of Rs 24,454 crore in the Indian markets in the first six days of the month of December. This shows that foreign investors' confidence in the Indian economy remains intact.

Conclusion

The rally in the market last week pushed the valuations of many big companies to new heights. However, some companies suffered losses. The market movement in the coming weeks will depend on global and domestic factors, due to which investors have to be cautious.
