Currently, India is exporting military hardware to more than 90 countries. The government has taken important steps towards simplifying the licensing system and approval processes. The US has now become India's largest defense export destination, while Africa and other regions are also being focused on. Defense exports have registered a growth of 78%, and reached a record Rs 21,083 crore in the last financial year.Future plans and goalsThe Narendra Modi government in 2020 had set an export target of Rs 35,000 crore in aerospace and defense goods and services for the next 5 years. Apart from this, there is a plan to achieve a turnover of Rs 1.75 lakh crore ($25 billion) in defense manufacturing by 2025.Big projects worth Rs 15 lakh croreThe government has approved projects worth about Rs 15 lakh crore in the first 100 days. These include special focus on the development of infrastructure, health services, science and technology, energy, security, roads, railways and ports. Addressing the Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet and Expo (RE-Invest 2024) in Gandhinagar, the Prime Minister said that India is becoming the best option for the 21st century.Infrastructure improvementUnder infrastructure development, projects worth Rs 3 lakh crore have been approved, with special focus on roads, railways, ports and airways. Vadhavan Mega Port in Maharashtra has been approved at a cost of Rs 76,200 crore, which will be among the top 10 ports in the world. Under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana-4 (PMGSY-IV), construction/upgradation of 62,500 km of roads and bridges has been approved to connect 25,000 villages by road with central assistance of Rs 49,000 crore.Relief for farmers and middle classThe 17th installment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi was released, in which ₹20,000 crore was distributed to 9.3 crore farmers. Additionally, MSP for Kharif crops was increased for 2024-25 and Polavaram irrigation project in Andhra Pradesh was approved with an allocation of ₹12,100 crore. Income tax exemption limit has been increased to Rs 7 lakh to provide relief to the middle class, and up to Rs 17,500 can be saved in taxes for salaried individuals.Ease of doing businessTo provide financial relief to start-ups, 31% angel tax has been abolished and corporate tax for foreign companies has been reduced from 40% to 35%. Mudra loan limit has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, making India more attractive for global investments.
Advances in Science and TechnologyA ₹1000 crore venture capital fund scheme has been launched for space start-ups. On August 16, the EOS-08 satellite was successfully launched on SSLV-D3. A semiconductor unit will be set up in Sanand, Gujarat, with an investment of Rs 3,300 crore, which will produce 6 million chips per day.In these 100 days, the Modi government has taken important decisions in many areas, which will not only strengthen the Indian economy but will also strengthen India's position on the global stage.
