During this various cultural programs were organized. Surya Kiran aircraft from BSF showed stunts in the sky. But, the story of the Scout-Guides who participated in the Jamboree is also very interesting... It was the army of children who fought the war.
For the first time in South Africa, training was given to become an army of children.Between 1899-1900, 1500 whites and 8000 local people lived in the town of Mafeking in South Africa. The Dutch people, who were called Boers, wanted to take over Mafeking. Boer's army of 9000 besieges Mafeking. Baden Paul (who founded Scout) was posted there during this period. He had 1000 soldiers and 8 guns in the palace to fight the war. Powell did not allow the Dutch to enter his town for 218 days. The reason was that Paul's staff officer, Edward Cecil, raised an army of boys over the age of 9 from Mafeking. They were given training by wearing uniform. Employed them in first aid and other works and those who were soldiers to fight the war.Inspired by this incident, he wrote a book called Aids to Scouting. Impressed by this book, Mr. Smith urged Baden Paul to start scouting for boys. On this in 1907, Baden Powell organized the first Scout Camp of 20 boys from different sections of the society from 29 July to 9 August at Brown Sea Island near Pul Harbour, in the English Channel. He wrote about the experiences of this camp in his famous book called Scouting for Boys.
