Voted against Russia in International Court, tension may increase

The International Court of Justice, the top court of the United Nations, has ordered Russia to immediately stop attacking Ukraine. Ukraine took the matter to the top UN court after the attack by Russia. After which the ICJ decided to vote in favor and against Russia. But the most surprising thing is that in the ICJ, Justice Dalveer Bhandari of India also voted against Russia. At the same time, America has also welcomed the order of ICJ.

13 judges voted against Russia while two voted in favor

At the International Court of Justice, 13 judges voted against Russia, while only two voted in favor. Indian judge Justice Dalveer Bhandari was also included in these 13 judges. While the two judges who voted in favor of Russia were Vice President Kirill Gevorgian (Russia) and Judge Sue Hankin (China).

Who is Indian Judge Dalveer Bhandari?

Justice Dalveer Bhandari is completing his second term at the International Court of Justice. In 2012, he was elected for the first term which continued till 2018. He was re-nominated by India and won another term at the ICJ by defeating UK nominee Justice Greenwood.

Zelensky tells Putin to follow ICJ order

Following the international court's order, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Russia to comply with the order immediately. Ukraine has won a complete victory in its case against Russia at the International Court of Justice. Zelensky said ignoring the order would further isolate Russia. The ICJ has ordered an immediate halt to the invasion, which Russia must comply with. The ICJ said that the order is binding under international law. Russia must comply immediately.
