When will elections be held in Maharashtra? Chief Election Commissioner told this date

Maharashtra Election 2024: The upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra will be held before November 26. This has been announced by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. The Election Commission team is currently on a tour to review the preparations for the Assembly Elections 2024 in the state. The Chief Election Commissioner also made it clear that all the preparations for the elections are going on smoothly and the process will be completed within the stipulated time.

Election Commission reviewed the preparations

During the three-day visit of the Central Election Commission, the Commission held meetings with officials in the state and assessed the preparations for the upcoming elections. During this, the Commission took many important decisions, in which special emphasis was laid on making the election process smooth and transparent.

Demands of political parties

The Chief Election Commissioner said during the press conference that representatives of political parties were also met during this visit. He urged the Commission to announce the election dates keeping in mind important festivals like Diwali. Apart from this, political parties demanded transparency in the transfer of officials, and also asked for a copy of the 17C form to be made available to polling agents.

The 17C form is an important document that is provided to polling agents after the completion of the polling process. Also, political parties expressed the need to keep a strict watch on false and misleading information spreading on social media.

Voter and booth information

The Election Commission also revealed the number of voters and polling booths in Maharashtra. The total number of voters is 9.59 crore, while 1,00,186 polling booths will be set up across the state. Of these, 42,585 booths will be in urban areas and 57,601 booths will be set up in rural areas. The Chief Election Commissioner said that basic amenities will be provided at all polling booths and special arrangements will be made for senior citizens so that they can vote from their home. Apart from this, if any problem arises at any polling station, it has been promised to be resolved within 90 minutes.

Candidates with criminal background will have to give information

The Chief Election Commissioner said that candidates against whom criminal cases are pending will have to publish their information in the newspaper three times. Political parties will also have to give information about why they gave ticket to a candidate with criminal background and why they did not choose any other candidate with a clean image. This process will be implemented to ensure transparency of elections and information of the public.

Strict monitoring of drugs and alcohol

Instructions have also been given to keep a strict watch on the supply of drugs and alcohol during the elections. The Election Commission has ensured that no kind of illegal activities are encouraged during the election process in the state.
