Rajasthan News: The strike of petrol pump operators which started yesterday in Rajasthan will continue even today. Even today it has been decided to keep petrol pumps closed from 10 am to 6 pm. Petrol pump owners have observed a two-day bandh due to higher VAT being charged on petroleum products compared to neighboring states. However, the matter will not end here, because dealers say that if the government does not accept the demands, then there will be an indefinite strike from September 15 due to which people may have to face a lot of trouble.
People left their cars at closed petrol pumpsIn the present times, like food, clothes and house, petrol and diesel have also become necessary, that is why along with the vehicles, the work of the people has also come to a halt in Rajasthan. There are queues of vehicles at closed petrol pumps and the reason is the strike of petrol pump operators. There was no sale of petrol and diesel in Rajasthan yesterday and even today petrol and diesel will not be available at any petrol pump. Now let us know why this is happening, why the sale of petrol and diesel has been banned in Rajasthan.
Political game on oilActually, the most expensive petrol in the entire country is being sold in Rajasthan. Compared to neighboring states, the highest VAT is charged on petroleum products here, due to which the angry petrol pump operators have gone on strike. The question is why the most expensive petrol is available in Rajasthan only. When this question was asked to the state chief Ashok Gehlot, he blamed it on the central government. Gehlot said that imposing unexpected tax on petrol and diesel across the country is a very serious matter, the general public is being affected by it. In such a situation, the Central Government should consider reducing the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG.Former CM of the state Vasundhara Raje answered the question raised on the Centre. Vasundhara wrote on social media, "Petrol-diesel in Rajasthan is being sold 8 to 12 rupees more expensive than the neighboring states because here VAT is being charged more than other states, which affects the pockets of the pump owners as well as the common people. But it is also being affected. Gehlot ji, instead of pretending about inflation relief, stop collecting excess VAT.
Why is petrol being sold the most expensive in Rajasthan?- In Rajasthan, 31.04 percent VAT is charged on petrol. Besides, road development cess of Rs 1.5 per liter is also taken.
- Similarly, there is 19.30 percent VAT on diesel and Rs 1.75 per liter cess is being charged on it.
- Rajasthan is among those states where the highest tax is being charged on petrol and diesel.
- On the other hand, in Haryana, 18.20 percent VAT is charged on petrol and 16 percent VAT on diesel.
- In Punjab, there is 13.77 percent VAT on petrol and 09.92 percent VAT on diesel.
- In Uttar Pradesh, there is 19.36 percent VAT on petrol and 17.08 percent VAT on diesel.
- So in the capital Delhi, there is 19.40 percent VAT on petrol and 16.75 percent VAT on diesel.
- Whereas in Gujarat, 13.70 percent VAT is charged on petrol and 14.90 percent VAT on diesel.
The rates of petrol and diesel are quite low in Rajasthan's neighboring states Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. While petrol is available cheaper by Rs 16, diesel is available cheaper by Rs 11. CM Gehlot says that the prices of petrol and diesel in the neighboring state Madhya Pradesh are higher than Rajasthan and why does the government not do anything there.
'Oil is more expensive in MP than Rajasthan'If compared with Maharashtra, petrol prices here are almost equal to Rajasthan. But in the north-western areas of Rajasthan, petrol is costlier by Rs 2 to 3 compared to this. In Madhya Pradesh, there is 29 percent VAT on petrol and 19 percent VAT on diesel. Apart from this, some cesses are also imposed in MP.
