UP Politics: By-election has been announced for the Legislative Council seat vacant after the election of senior BJP leader and former Deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh Dinesh Sharma as Rajya Sabha member. Dara Singh Chauhan is known as the leader of Nonia community. BSP once had a strong hold on this vote bank, but now BJP is strengthening its hold on it. After Dara Singh Chauhan switched from BJP to SP in the 2022 elections, BJP's hold on this vote bank had weakened, due to which he was made to return home after the elections. But, in Ghosi by-election, Dara Singh Chauhan contested on BJP ticket, but could not win.

The return of Dara Singh Chauhan from SP to BJP has been done in view of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, due to which it is believed that now he can be made a member of the Legislative Council and given a place in the Yogi cabinet. Therefore, the discussion is that BJP can send Dara Singh Chauhan to the Legislative Council seat vacant due to the resignation of Dinesh Sharma. There were further speculations about this when Dara Singh Chauhan met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday.

After losing the Ghosi by-election, Dara Singh Chauhan is not a member of any house, whereas to become a part of the cabinet, he is required to be an MLA or MLC.
