Wrestlers Protest: Once again the veteran wrestlers of the country have opened a front against Brij Bhushan Singh, President of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). Veteran players like Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik, along with some other wrestlers, are allowed to stage a sit-in at Jantar Mantar. Earlier, all these wrestlers had staged a sit-in against Bhushan in January. These wrestlers allege that Bhushan has sexually exploited women players. The Indian Olympic Association and the Sports Ministry had formed inquiry committees in this regard, but Vinesh had expressed his displeasure with these committees. Now once again all these wrestlers have come in the mood of strike.That's why sitting on strikeOlympic medalist Bajrang Punia has said that they are sitting on dharna because what was to be done in this matter has not been done. He has said that these people are fighting a battle to save wrestling in the country. These players want the strictest action to be taken against Brij Bhushan but till now it has not happened and that is why these people are registering their protest again. .After the complaint of these people in January, the Sports Ministry had formed an oversight committee under the chairmanship of veteran boxer Mary Kom. This committee is looking after the day-to-day functioning of the federation.Police heard the complaintThe English newspaper The Indian Express has written in its report that the senior police officer has confirmed that they have received the complaint at Connaught Place Police Station and have started investigation in the matter before registering the FIR. He said that whatever legal action will be taken will be taken.Earlier this month, Vinesh had said that wrestling players are thinking of taking legal action against Brij Bhushan. Vinesh had said that he had lost faith in the committee. Vinesh had told The Indian Express that he has received some assurances from the government but these have not been fulfilled.Want quick actionSakshi Malik said in the press conference that he wants an FIR to be registered in the matter as soon as possible. He said that he had lodged a complaint two days back. Sakshi has said that it has been two and a half months since the case but nothing has happened. Whereas Vinesh has said that he wants justice. The wrestlers said that they have been asking for time for three months but no hearing is taking place.He said that a complaint was lodged at the Connaught Place police station two days ago, but no hearing has been held so far. He said that seven girls have filed an FIR, out of which one girl is a minor and comes under POSCO. He said that even after two and a half months the hearing did not happen, so he had to sit back on dharna.
