Petrol Diesel Price Today 25th April: Oil marketing companies have released new rates of petrol and diesel today i.e. on Tuesday. There has been no change in the rate of petrol and diesel for the 20th consecutive day, that too when no elections are being held anywhere in the country. At the international level also, the price of crude oil is close to $ 102 per barrel.

If we talk about today's rate, then the cheapest petrol in the country is Rs 91.45 in Port Blair and diesel is Rs 85.83 liter. Whereas, the most expensive petrol in the country is being sold at a price of Rs 123.47 per liter in Parbhani, Maharashtra. At the same time, diesel is Rs 107.68 per liter in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. The question is, why is petrol and diesel so cheap in Port Blair?

Why is oil cheaper in Port Blair?

On April 1, the central government tax and the Delhi government tax were around 44 per cent of the retail price of petrol. This ratio varies from state to state. Take the example of Mumbai itself. On April 1, the price of petrol in the city was Rs 116.72 per liter, which was about Rs 15 more per liter than Delhi. The reason for this is simple.

The Maharashtra government charges an additional Rs 10.12 along with 26 per cent value-added tax for every liter of petrol sold in the city. Hence the total tax in Mumbai exceeds Rs 50 per litre. State governments tax separately and the tax is lowest in Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where it is 0 per cent and 1 per cent respectively.
