India / 6 NSCN-IM insurgents killed in encounter in Arunachal Pradesh

At least six National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) (NSCN-IM) insurgents were killed in an encounter with Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police in Khonsa area of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday. "Six long-range weapons (four AK-47 and two Chinese MQ) have been recovered so far," Arunachal Pradesh DGP RP Upadhyaya. An Assam Rifles soldier was injured in the encounter.

Itanagar: Six NSCN-IM insurgents were killed in an encounter with security forces in Khonsa area of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday, 11 July, reported news agency PTI quoting sources. One soldier of the Assam Rifles was also injured in the operation.

The report added that the encounter took place at around 4:30 am and six weapons were recovered. The operation was launched after the intelligence inputs were received about the presence of armed insurgence in the area.

According to a report in The Indian Express, the injured soldier is said to be stable and treatment at a military hospital.
