Himachal Pradesh / 7 youths drowned in Himachal's Govindsagar lake, age of 6 was less than 20 years

A major accident took place on Monday in Gobindsagar lake in Una district of Himachal Pradesh. 7 youths died due to drowning in the lake here. The incident took place at around 3:50 pm near Kolka Baba Garib Das Mandir, a village under the police station. All the deceased were residents of Punjab and 4 of them are minors. 2 youths belonged to the same family.

All are residents of Mohali in Punjab. These youths were going to visit Baba Balaknath temple. On Monday afternoon, he had landed in the Govindsagar lake for a bath. The accident happened due to lack of understanding of the depth of the water. Una SP Arijit Sen said bodies of all 7 missing people have been recovered in Gobind Sagar lake near Baba Garibnath temple. Their families have been informed.

Bangana police reached the spot and with the help of local people a search operation was started. Divers and fire brigade personnel were also called in to help. After much effort all the bodies were recovered.

Police said that the six drowned youths were below 20 years of age. The deceased have been identified as Pawan Kumar (35), Raman Kumar (19), Labh Singh (17), Lakhvir Singh (16), Arun (14), Vishal (18) and Shiva (16). Raman Kumar and Labh Singh are said to be from the same family. The police recovered the bodies of all the seven youths with the help of divers.
