Delhi Elections 2024: Preparations for the Delhi Assembly elections have intensified, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday released a list of all its 70 candidates. With this list, AAP has fully registered its presence in the electoral fray. However, there has been no official announcement from the main opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) yet. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal questioned the BJP's inaction and targeted it in sharp words.

AAP's preparation and attack on BJP

Through its list, AAP has tried to show that the party is entering the electoral fray with full preparation. Arvind Kejriwal took a dig at the BJP on the social media platform 'X' and wrote, "BJP has no face for the post of Chief Minister, no team, and no vision for Delhi. They have only one mission - 'Remove Kejriwal'." Kejriwal says that the BJP has nothing to answer to the public about the work done in the last five years. Instead, their entire focus is only on the Aam Aadmi Party and campaigning against them. AAP's key seats and candidates According to the Aam Aadmi Party's list, Arvind Kejriwal will contest from New Delhi assembly constituency.

Atishi will again contest from Kalkaji seat. Atishi expressed her gratitude to the party on social media and said, "It is a matter of pride for me that the party once again expressed confidence in me." Apart from this, senior party leader Manish Sisodia said about AAP's election preparations that the party will put forward the work done on issues like education, health, electricity and water before the public and will seek support for the next five years. BJP and Congress's position BJP has not yet released its list of candidates, raising questions about the party's strategy. However, there is news that BJP is planning to field Parvesh Verma against Kejriwal on New Delhi seat.

On the other hand, Congress has announced 21 candidates. This list includes the name of Sandeep Dixit, son of former Chief Minister Sheila Dixit, who will challenge Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi seat. Both Congress and AAP are part of the 'India' alliance, but the possibility of any alliance between the two in Delhi is negligible.

Electoral challenges for AAP

In the 2020 assembly elections, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats. This time too AAP will try to capitalize on its achievements. But the election battle can be interesting due to the possible alliance or different strategies of BJP and Congress.

Conclusion

Aam Aadmi Party has made a strong start in the Delhi assembly elections and has given a direct challenge to the opposition parties. BJP and Congress now have limited time left, in which they will not only have to announce their candidates but also prepare an effective strategy. The upcoming election results will decide whether the AAP is able to retain its hold or the opposition parties are able to cause a major upset.
