After the deepening of the oxygen crisis in the second wave of the corona epidemic, the central government had started a campaign to set up oxygen production plants in every district of most of the states. Now most of the states are moving towards self-sufficiency in oxygen production.Under this agreement was made between the central and state governments. According to the report of the Union Health Ministry, 25 out of 36 states and union territories of the country have 100%, that is, each district has its own oxygen plant. These plants are supplying oxygen to the surroundings including local major hospitals. Some work is yet to be done in 11 states. Of these, two or more plants are yet to be commissioned in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland and Ladakh. While in Rajasthan, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh, one plant each has not been commissioned.According to the report, the central government has approved 1561 oxygen production plants in the country. Of these, budget was given from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for the establishment of 1225 plants. While the remaining 336 plants were given budget from other ministries of the Centre. Till now 1541 out of 1561 i.e. 98.71 percent plants are in working condition.
