Cricket Desk: The chairman of Mahindra Group, a Mumbai-based business conglomerate, Anand Mahindra is an ardent cricket fan and often expresses his views about the performance of the team and players via his official Twitter handle. Earlier this year, the Men in Blue scripted history by retaining the Border Gavaskar Trophy after winning the four-match Test series against Australia in Australia by 2-1.

What made the victory more special was the fact that it came on the back of stunning performances by the debutants who grabbed the opportunity provided to them with both hands and made the country proud. In the Test series, India was without the services of their main players as many had succumbed to injury during the course of the series.

Impressed with the temperament and character showed by the debutants, Anand Mahindra had promised to gift the new THAR SUV at his own expense to as many as six players including the likes of Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill, Navdeep Saini, T Natarajan, and Washington Sundar.

“Six young men made their debuts in the recent historic series #INDvAUS (Shardul’s 1 earlier appearance was short-lived due to injury)They’ve made it possible for future generations of youth in India to dream & Explore the Impossible.

“Theirs are true ‘Rise’ stories; overcoming daunting odds in the pursuit of excellence. They serve as an inspiration in all arenas of life. It gives me great personal pleasure to gift each of these debutants an All-New THAR SUV on my own account—at no expense to the company,” Anand Mahindra had tweeted.

As a token of appreciation, the 30-year-old also presented his signed Gabba jersey to the businessman and is hopeful that he will find his return gift meaningful. “Playing cricket for India is the biggest privilege of my life. My #Rise has been on an unusual path. Along the way, the love and affection, I have received have overwhelmed me. The support and encouragement from wonderful people, help me find ways to #ExploreTheImpossible.
