India out of the race for WTC final

With this defeat, the Indian team is out of the race for the final of the current cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC). India's win percentage has come down to 50.00%, while Australia has made it to the WTC final for the second consecutive time with a win percentage of 63.73%.

The WTC final will be played in June at the historic ground of Lord's, where Australia will face South Africa. The South African team has already qualified for the final.

Indian team's batting flop in the second innings

The Indian team could not bat well in the second innings and collapsed for 157 runs. Shreyas Iyer scored the highest 42 runs, while Cheteshwar Pujara contributed 32 runs. Captain Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill were dismissed cheaply. The Indian team took a total lead of 161 runs in their second innings, which proved insufficient in front of Australia's strong batting order.

Captain Jasprit Bumrah was not part of the Indian team in the second innings. Bumrah remained out of the field due to back stiffness. Virat Kohli captained in his absence, but the bowlers failed to take wickets on important occasions.

Australia's strong batting

Australia showed restraint and patience in their batting while chasing the target of 162 runs. Usman Khawaja and Sam Constas gave the team a steady start. Although Siraj and Prasidh Krishna dismissed four Australian batsmen, the unbeaten partnership of Travis Head and Beau Webster took away India's hopes of victory.

Major reasons for India's defeat

There were many reasons for this defeat. The biggest reason was the disappointing performance of the Indian batsmen. Especially in the second innings, the top order of the team did not score big. Apart from this, the absence of Jasprit Bumrah also affected the team.

The Indian bowlers struggled in the second innings, but the Australian batsmen took the match in their favor. Apart from this, some mistakes were also made by India in fielding, which the Kangaroo team took advantage of.

India's performance in the series

The performance of the Indian team was average during the series. In the first innings, the team struggled in some matches, but in the second innings the batting often fell apart. The bowlers performed brilliantly in some matches, but failed to perform consistently well against a strong team like Australia.

Meaning of Australia's victory

With this win, Australia proved that it is a strong team in Test cricket. By winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia defeated India on both mental and strategic fronts. The Kangaroo team not only won the series, but also entered the WTC final.

Australian captain Pat Cummins called this victory a big achievement for the team. He said that this victory is a confidence booster for the team and will also serve as an inspiration for the WTC final.

Challenges ahead

This defeat is a big lesson for the Indian team. The team needs to improve both its batting and bowling. Also, the team management will have to focus on the fitness of the players so that the absence of key players does not affect the team.

After this defeat, the Indian team will have to work on its weaknesses and make strategies for better performance in future. In the upcoming series and tournaments, the Indian team will have to make a new beginning so that it can regain its lost reputation in Test cricket.
