The tariff war between the US and China has intensified, in which India has emerged as an important player. The US considers India a key partner, while China wants cooperation. US Finance Secretary Scott Bessant has described India's role as important in global trade solutions. India is looking for solutions.

Trump Tariff War: The global trade war over tariffs led by US President Donald Trump has taken a new turn. The biggest target of this tariff war is China, against which the US is constantly adopting an aggressive stance. The competition of increasing tariff rates between the two countries has not only shaken the global trade, but has also made the role of developing countries like India decisive.

America's tough stance and India's importance

During a press conference at the White House, US Finance Secretary Scott Bessant clearly said that this issue is not limited to the US and China, but it is a matter affecting the entire global trade. He said that the trade imbalance is deepening due to the activities of 'bad actors' like China. Bessant described India, Japan and South Korea as important allies of the US in this region.

He bluntly said, "President Trump has been saying for four years that China is the most unbalanced economy in modern history. It is a trade challenge not only for the US, but also for the rest of the world."

India's balanced diplomacy

India has adopted a very balanced strategy in this entire matter. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has assured that the government is working in the best interest of the country and is ready to deal with any challenge. India is currently following the policy of protecting its interests without showing inclination towards any one side.

It is clear that India is keeping its global economic relations stable as well as looking for opportunities that may emerge amid this trade conflict. While strengthening close trade relations with the US is India's priority, India is also not ignoring the traditional trade partnership with China.

China's expectations from India

Positive signals are also being given from China regarding India. Chinese Embassy spokesperson Yu Jing posted on social media saying that China and India should stand together against the tariffs imposed by the US. According to him, "China-India trade relations are based on mutual benefit and both countries should cooperate against America's tariff abuse."

This statement indicates that China is expecting an alternative partnership against the US from India.

Vietnam's new equation

Vietnam is also emerging as an important player in this scenario of tariff war. Recently, the US and Vietnam have agreed to start negotiations for a trade agreement. This development came at a time when the US put a halt on the proposed 46% tariff on Vietnam. Vietnam has already become an important manufacturing hub for Western companies and the US is its largest export market.
