Asia Cup 2023: The match between India and Pakistan was washed away due to rain on the previous day. Rain spoiled the fun of this high voltage match of Asia Cup 2023. Big news is coming after this match. Asia Cup matches can be shifted. The reason behind this is the heavy rains in Colombo. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rain in Colombo in the coming days and in view of that, the Asian Cricket Council is considering shifting the Super 4 matches. According to Indian Express, the match to be held in Colombo can be held in Pallekele or Dambulla.

Asia Cup is being played on hybrid model. The opening of the tournament was held in Pakistan, while its Super 4 matches will be played in Sri Lanka next week. Asia Cup host Pakistan is also playing in Sri Lanka. In fact, India had clearly refused to go to Pakistan. After which Sri Lanka was selected as the second venue.

Advice from dambulla

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board had advised to get the match done in Dambulla, because it is a dry region. There is less chance of rain there. However, the broadcasters and teams did not want to travel to Dambulla. In this situation, Pallekele and Colombo were selected. However, this monsoon season is going on in Sri Lanka and both these places have been receiving heavy rains for the last 5 days.

Decision in next 2 days

Regarding Colombo, it was earlier expected that the situation could change, but looking at the weather of Colombo for the last few days, ACC has started thinking about shifting the match. The first match in Colombo is to be played on September 9 and the ACC is worried about the weather. Two more matches are yet to be played in Pakistan and ACC can take a final decision regarding the venue in the next two days.
