Maharashtra Cabinet: The cabinet division formula has been finalised for the much-awaited cabinet expansion in Maharashtra. BJP will get 20, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena 12, and Ajit Pawar's NCP 10 ministerial posts. To finalise this division, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. The Maharashtra Cabinet can have a maximum of 43 ministers, including the Chief Minister, and this division has been done accordingly.Fadnavis-Amit Shah meeting in DelhiOn Wednesday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. The meeting was held at the Home Minister's residence, where the cabinet division and portfolios were discussed. This was Fadnavis' first visit to Delhi after becoming the Chief Minister. Best wishes to him for a successful tenure."Background of Cabinet expansionBefore his Delhi visit, Chief Minister Fadnavis had a detailed meeting with both Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. The discussion lasted for about 1.30 hours and deliberated on distribution of cabinet berths and allocation of portfolios.The Mahayuti alliance had secured 230 out of 288 seats in the recently held assembly elections. After the electoral victory, Fadnavis was sworn in as Chief Minister and Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar as Deputy Chief Ministers on December 5.Who gets which portfolio?According to sources, Shiv Sena is unlikely to be given the Home portfolio. However, it may get the Urban Development Department and other key portfolios. At the same time, Shiv Sena is less likely to get the Revenue Department. On the other hand, BJP is expected to keep key departments like Finance and Home with itself.Why the delay in cabinet expansion?A senior BJP leader explained the reason for the delay in cabinet expansion. He said:"Three parties (BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP) are part of the Mahayuti.
