MMS Sacndal | The controversy over the objectionable video of girls in Chandigarh University of Punjab seems to be ending now. The students have decided to end their protest over the issue. In fact, the university administration has accepted the demands of the protesting students. It has been agreed that no action will be taken against any student involved in the protest. Also, 2 hostel wardens have been suspended.

At present, Chandigarh University has been closed for 6 days (24 September). Many students have also started going to their homes. According to media reports, the timing of the hostel has been changed. Also, there will be no restriction on the dress in girls' hostels. Apart from this, a 10-member committee of students will be formed in this matter, which will be given every update related to the case.

So far 3 accused arrested

After preliminary investigation, the police arrested a girl student. Apart from this, a 23-year-old youth has been arrested from Himachal Pradesh, who is being told as the boyfriend of that girl. The youth has been arrested and handed over to the Punjab Police. Himachal Pradesh Police has also arrested another 31-year-old man in this case. Thus far three arrests have been made in the present case.

Protests broke out at the university after midnight following 'rumours' that videos of several girl students were leaked. He said that the mobile phone of the arrested student has been confiscated for forensic examination. There has been no case of any student attempting suicide and no one has died in this case. A case has been registered under Section 354C of Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act and investigation is on.

A large number of students protested again on Sunday evening in the university campus. Some of the protesting students accused the university authorities of suppressing the incident. Most of the protesters were dressed in black and raised slogans like 'we want justice' in the presence of police.

University calls suicide claims rumor

Chandigarh University Pro-Chancellor R.S. Bawa said in a statement, "There are rumors that girls have committed suicide, while the truth is that no girl has taken any such step." No girl has been admitted to the hospital in the incident. There is another rumor, which is spreading through the media, that objectionable MMS of various girl students has been found. This is completely false and baseless.

Responding to a question on the hostel warden, the SSP said that he (the warden) questioned the student, who was later arrested, to find out if he had made a video of any other student. In one of the videos, the warden in particular can be seen purportedly asking the student, 'Who asked you to record the video? You will be suspended. Then the warden is seen pointing to some other girl students present there and they can be heard saying, 'Are these girls not Izzat hai? At whose behest did you do this? Who told you to make it?'

Political rhetoric intensified on the matter

Chief Minister Mann has ordered an inquiry into the incident and said that strict action will be taken against those found guilty. Chief Minister Mann tweeted, 'Sad to hear about the unfortunate incident of Chandigarh University. Our daughters are our honour. A high level inquiry has been ordered in the matter. Strict action will be taken against whoever is found guilty. I am in touch with the administration.

Badal said that the government should make all the facts public and should not try to suppress anything.
